% of first pitch strikes

What % of 1st pitch strikes do you want you pitchers to throw?

I am shooting for 80% this year. I don't know if that is unrealistic for sophomores, but I'm going to be pressing them on this.

I want all pitches to be thrown for strikes. This doesn't mean everything coming is a fastball.

I also want the ball in play. Go ahead and hit the ball...right at one of our guys.

I shoot for 65-70% and 70-75% on 1st pitch. 80% may be difficult but, set the bar high. My last year we were 65-70%thirsty and that was with 2 seniors, one is now pitching for a D1 program, other is D3 and had some D1 looks.
