Introduce yourself here.
You don't have to give your name, tell us where you coach(ed), what is your specialty, and where you are coaching.

Coach in Nebraska but have coached in Iowa and S. Carolina as well.
Currently coaching American Legion team: Millard Sox Baseball.
Worked at the Youth, High School, Legion and College levels.
Like to think of myself as a strong offensive mind, with an emphasis on aggressive styles of play to produce runs in every inning possible.
Looking for just other ways that coaches train and work with their baseball players to maximize their overall skill sets.

Hey guys this spring will be my 20th season as a high school coach. I've coached at four high schools in Eastern Kentucky, Western Kentucky and now North Carolina. I spent 9 years as a head coach and think it wwas a pretty successful stint.
I've also coached football for 15 years serving as offensive coordinator for the past three years and one year as a defensive coordinator before that. This past fall will be my last season as a football coach because I was named Athletic Director in June and it's just too much to do both of these jobs. I'm still going to keep my assistant baseball job. Hope to be a head baseball coach again.
Dream job is to coach at the college level but after spending 3 years applying and trying to get a job and nothing to show for it I would venture to guess that it's not happening. It's cool though - I really enjoy teaching history and psychology and coaching at the high school level.

Coach2709 - one of "our" former summer kids from Northern California is now at Campbellsville University pitching for Coach Beauford Sanders. You guys all seem to "do it right" in Kentucky and Carolina. Kudos. www.campbellsvilletigers.com/sport/11/8.php

Wow how did he end up at Campbellsville all the way from California? That's awesome.
Coach Sanders is an awesome coach and does a phenomenal job. Campbellsville is a great program and your guy is going to enjoy it. Beautiful campus and area around it. Hope your guy has a great time and is very successful.

Coach Caruso: I've taken a lot from this advanced pitching document. Pawlowski's Principles www.baseball-excellence.com/sbaseballforums/fileattachments/PawlowskiThis is what I use at the HS Level (below) 1) Compete – hit the glove 2) Throw the ball on a down angle 3) First two out of three pitches must be a glove strike 4) Although 0-0 strikes are important we feel the most important count is 1-1, we want to be at 1-2 instead of 2-1. 5) RHP must be 1.3 seconds to the plate 6) On picks – short arm, accuracy, quick front window 7) Must be able to duplicate pitches 8) Be able to pitch on both sides of the plate with the fastball 9) Own the change-up 10) Be able to pitch backwards – lead with the curveball or change-up 11) Establish inner half of home plate 12) Command out of the zone as much as in 13) Turn negatives into positives 14) All left handed pitchers should have good [pick-off] moves 15) Have as good of stuff in the stretch as in the wind-up 16) Control all the variables – mechanics, mental, physical 17) Uncontrollable variables must have no effect 18) Minimum of 65% to 35% strike to ball ratio 19) Elevate fastball when ahead – middle, center, chest high 20) Mental and physical preparation – pre/post game *** Differential between fastball and change-up, 8 to 15 mph
